Exciting Son Of Camelot Tops Day 1 Of Tattersalls HIT Sale
Exciting stayer Waterville (3c Camelot - Holy Moon, by Hernando) topped the opening day of the Tattersalls Autumn Horses In Training Sale when selling to Guy Mulcaster and Chris Waller for 410,000gns.
The Aidan O’Brien-trained three-year-old impressed many when landing the valuable Irish Cesarewitch, where he produced an impressive turn of foot to overcome traffic problems. Guy Mulcaster had his eye on Coolmore-consigned colt long before that though, as he revealed on Monday.
“We saw him at Aidan’s in June and liked him then and obviously his form has gone on since. He’s a well-bred horse who’s been well looked after, he hasn’t had many runs but he’s got a high profile off a limited number of starts so he looks obvious one for us. Camelot has done well in Australia, so I’m delighted to get him.”
One of Camelot’s best imports to Australia was also sourced from Ballydoyle, with private purchase Sir Dragonet (Camelot) having won the Group 1 Cox Plate and Group 1 Tancred Stakes. Another star representative for the sire Down Under was 120,000gns yearling purchase Russian Camelot (Camelot), who captured the Group 1 South Australian Derby, before beating his elders in the Group 1 Underwood Stakes.
