Five Star Getaway Impresses With Maiden Win

Five Star Getaway (5g Getaway - Hapeney, by Saddlers’ Hall) landed the first leg of a point-to-point maiden double for his Grange Stud sire when taking the Five-Year-Old Maiden at Courtown on Sunday.

The Shirley Berry-trained bay was ridden to chase the leaders by Shane O’Rourke, progressing into second at halfway and disputed the lead from the fourth last fence. Leading one leap later, he ran on well to extend his advantage to six lengths on the line, as the longtime leader and favourite Doubleubee (Yeats) stayed on for second.

Five Star Getaway was bred by A.V. Bloodstock and is a half-brother to Three Stars (Westerner), a Grade 3 winner over fences and hurdles. Their half-brother by Fame And Glory sold to Stroud Coleman Bloodstock for €68,000 at last years Tattersalls Ireland Derby Sale.

Completing Getaway’s double later in the day at Rathcannon was the Michelle Gannon owned and trained Panthers Creek (6g Getaway - Show Us The Money, by Entrepreneur), who was last see finishing third in a similar contest at Ballyragget.

Ridden in mid-division by Stephen O’Connor, the bay went second before two out and looked the winner turning for home, going on to win by an easy four lengths on the line.
