Future Looks Bright For Debut Winner By Australia
Gold As Glass (2f Australia - Crisolles, by Le Havre) shaped like a smart prospect when making a winning debut at Newmarket on Wednesday.
The Marco Botti-trained chesnut was one of 12 to line up for the fillies’ novice stakes over seven furlongs and raced in touch for much of the way under Hollie Doyle. Making easy headway from two furlongs out, she led a furlong later and was ridden out to deny the more experienced favourite in a close finish.
“This was no surprise as Gold As Glass had been working well,” Botti later revealed. “We will have to speak to the owners but my initial thought was to put her away. She is not fully furnished and will be a better three year old.”
Owned by Ontoawinner and the Les Boyer Partnership, the daughter of Australia was bred by China Horse Club International.
