Mango Diva (Holy Roman Emperor) winning the Gr.2 Kilboy Estate Stakes at the Curragh

G2 glory for Holy Roman filly

A well-timed late challenge from jockey Ryan Moore saw the Antoniades family’s home-bred Mango Diva (4f Holy Roman Emperor-Mango Mischief, by Desert King) prevail in the G2 Kilboy Estate Stakes at the Curragh on Sunday.

Sir Michael Stoute’s decision to send the Holy Roman Emperor filly to Ireland paid off when she got up to beat Lahinch Classics (3f Galileo-Lahinch, by Danehill Dancer) in a driving finish.

Stablemate Dank won the nine-furlong race 12 months ago, going on to win the G1 Beverly D Stakes and G1 Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf, and Mango Diva could be following a similar route.

Stoute's travelling head lad James Savage told irishracing.com: “I’m glad we didn't get too much rain. She is a good moving filly and she wants top of the ground.

“She is progressing and going forward. That could be her perfect trip but she does stay ten. She just gets caught on her head a bit over a mile. The boss and the owner will have a look at the programme now but maybe she will follow Dank’s route, hopefully.”
