Lumiere Rock (Saxon Warrior) Wins The Group 3 Staffordstown Stud Stakes at the Curragh

Game Filly Becomes Latest Group Winner By Saxon Warrior

Lumiere Rock (3f Saxon Warrior - Last Gold, by Gold Away) showed a willing attitude when running out a commanding winner of Saturday’s Group 3 Staffordstown Stud Stakes at the Curragh.

Runner-up on her previous two starts, the Joseph O’Brien-trained bay was ridden to make all by Mikey Sheehy and was asked to quicken from the two furlong pole. Ridden when challenged a furlong later, she ran on strongly to win by a length and a half.

“Lumiere Rock has done it well,” the winning rider said after the race. “In fairness to her, every time a horse joined me, she kept finding more.”

Owned by Michael O’Flynn, Lumiere Rock provides a timely update for her Zoffany half-sister selling at Tattersalls next week. The progressive bay holds an entry in the Irish 1,000 Guineas and becomes a second Group winner from the first crop of Saxon Warrior. The top-class son of Deep Impact is responsible for another five Group performers, including Group 1 Prix Marcel Boussac second Gan Teorainn (Saxon Warrior).
