Quilixios (Maxios) Wins The Grade 1 Spring Juvenile Hurdle at Leopardstown

Grade 1 Success For Maxios As Quilixios Remains Unbeaten

The exciting Quilixios (4g Maxios - Quilita, by Lomitas) added a Grade 1 to his unbeaten record when justifying favouritism in Sunday’s Spring Juvenile Hurdle at the Dublin Racing Festival.

The son of Maxios was purchased privately after an impressive debut for Francois Nicolle and rewarded new owners Cheveley Park Stud with two wide margin victories in October. His absence since then was a slight concern, but he silenced any doubters entering the straight, where he led and was pushed out to score by five and a half lengths.

“That was brilliant. He did it very well,” a delighted Jack Kennedy said after crossing the line.

The impressive victory was a special one for connections, with Gordon Elliott celebrating his first winner of the meeting, while Cheveley Park Stud mourn the recent loss of David Thompson.

Bred by Stiftung Gestuet Faehrhof, Quilixios strengthens Maxios’s major claims as a future leading NH sire. Recruited to stand at Castlehyde Stud since 2020, the son of Monsun has proven extremely popular with Irish breeders, undoubtedly influenced by the success of Grange Stud neighbour Getaway (Monsun).

The second of Maxios’s two Group 1 successes came in the Prix du Moulin, also won by Vadamos (Monsun), who joins Grange Stud for the 2021 season.
