Holy Roman 2yo Morandi looks outstanding in G1 win

He won a G3 on his previous start by 12 lengths and - stepped up to G1 company - Morandi (2c Holy Roman Emperor-Vezina, by Bering) still managed to prevail by an amazing seven lengths at Saint-Cloud on Saturday.

Jean-Claude Rouget’s charge was sent off a warm favourite for the G1 Criterium de Saint-Cloud on the back of that previous success and he never looked likely to disappoint his supporters. Jockey Maxime Guyon took the lead as the field turned for home and went further and further clear of his rivals before easing down close to home.
“He showed his class the other day and he's proved it again today. There may be others that come along next year but he's going to be a high level three-year-old,” Rouget told racingpost.com

Morandi, who crowned a fabulous year for Holy Roman Emperor, was bred by Eric Puerari and was sold to Rouget for 65,000 euros at Deauville’s Arqana August Yearling Sale.
