Honor Leo Jean Latest Eye-Catcher for Mo Town

It was another runaway winner for Mo Town on Friday at Tampa Bay Downs when Honor Leo Jean (3c Mo Town x For Honor, by To Honor and Serve) broke his maiden by 5 ¾ lengths.

Sent off as the race favorite in the one-mile race, he was the second horse out of the gate and quickly took control with another horse dueling him down the backstretch. His challenger didn’t give in until they hit the stretch and from there, he was left alone with only one horse within nine lengths of Honor Leo Jean in the end.

Racing as a homebred for Bevo Racing, the Timothy Hamm trainee was making his second career start.

He is out of a granddaughter of dual Grade I winner Spoken Fur, who produced Serendip. Stakes form runs through the family with his dam’s half-sister also producing two stakes performers.

For Honor had a Mo Town filly named Honor Granville in 2021 and a Lookin At Lucky colt named Honor Don Pete last year.

Grade I winner Mo Town’s eight winners in 2023 is sixth best among his generation, as is his 28 winners overall. That group includes two stakes winners and six stakes performers.
