Impressive Filly Kicks Off Juvenile Double For Sioux Nation

Coto De Caza (2f Sioux Nation – Coto, by Fast Company) completed the first leg of a juvenile double for her sire on Tuesday when drawing clear in the fillies’ novice stakes at Beverley.

Trained by Simon and Ed Crisford for Mohammed Sultan, the €270,000 breeze-up buy showed signs of greenness when beaten just a neck by more experienced rivals on debut last month. Sent off favourite on Tuesday, she raced in second for much of the five furlong contest and was shaken up to quicken clear approaching the final furlong. She went on to win by five lengths under Silvestre de Sousa, with another four lengths and three quarters back to the third.

Speaking after the race, Simon Crisford said, “We were really pleased to see Coto De Caza win like that. We'll try to find a race for her down south and we'll have a look at the Alice Keppel at Goodwood.”

The exciting prospect becomes the first winner bred by Matthew Tynan out of the mare Coto.

Over at Kempton that evening, the George Boughey-trained newcomer Beauty Nation (2f Sioux Nation – Red Avis, by Exceed And Excel) justified strong market support in the fillies’ novice stakes over six furlongs.

Sent off favourite under Billy Loughnane, the bay raced towards the back of the field in the early stages and began to make headway from two furlongs out. She ran on well to lead inside the final 110 yards and went on to score by a length and three quarters.

The daughter of Sioux Nation is owned by Highclere Thoroughbred Racing and was bred by Epona Bloodstock.
