Mr De Pourceaugnac (Camelot) Wins At Deauville

Improving Son Of Camelot Gains Maiden Victory

A step up in trip saw Mr De Pourceaugnac (3g Camelot - Russian Hill, by Indian Ridge) gain his maiden win in the Prix de Criqueville at Deauville on Thursday.

The Andre Fabre-trained bay ran just once as a two-year-old and was not beaten far when finishing fifth over a mile last month. Racing over a furlong and half farther on his third start, he broke from the widest stall to track the leaders under Pierre-Charles Boudot. Pushed along from three furlongs out, he ran on well in the straight and rallied alongside rival Animal Fever inside the final furlong, prevailing by a short neck on the line.

Owned by Baron Edouard De Rothschild and bred by Ecurie De Meautry, Mr De Pourceaugnac is a half-brother to three-time Listed winner Russian Soul. The son of Camelot is out of Listed winner and multiple Group placed mare Russian Hill, herself a half-sister to top-class race mare Esoterique (Danehill Dancer).
