Just Cindy (Justify) winning the Gr.3 Schuylerville Stakes at Saratoga

Just Cindy Second Stakes Winner For Justify

Clarkland Farm homebred Just Cindy (2f Justify x Jenda’s Agenda, by Proud Citizen) gave Justify a second graded stakes winner on Thursday with a victory in the Grade III Schuylerville Stakes.

Making her second start after an impressive debut victory at Churchill Downs last month, the filly handled the extra sixteenth in distance with no issues. The second choice sat a few lengths off the dueling leaders down the backstretch before gaining ground in the turn to have her eye set on the lead by the time they turned into the stretch.

Just Cindy stuck with the second-place runner for much of the stretch before ending the games and pulling away in the end to win by an easy 2 ¼ lengths.

“It was great and I think she’s still a little green too, so I think there’s a lot of raw talent there,” said trainer Eddie Kenneally’s assistant Kelly Wheeler said. “She’s an exciting horse to have in the barn. She kind of got knocked around a little bit and she stayed professional and ran on. It’s really all you can ask for in a second-time starter.”

While there aren’t any concrete plans for her next start, an increase in distance is almost certainly in the cards.

“I think she’ll go longer – I don’t think that will be an issue at all. We kind of thought the added distance today wouldn’t be an issue at all, and it wasn’t,” Wheeler said.

Just Cindy is out of the stakes winning Jenda’s Agenda. That mare is a half-sister to Munnings’ stakes winning Miss Alacrity with the family including Uncle Mo’s champion and Grade I Kentucky Derby winner Nyquist.

Jenda’s Agenda has a yearling filly by American Pharoah and a filly foal by Mendelssohn.

Justify’s first crop has come out running in 2022. From 10 runners, he has four winners. That group includes the stakes performing trio of Group II Airlie Stud Stakes winner Statuette, Grade III Schuylerville Stakes winner Just Cindy, and Fasig-Tipton Futurity second Tahoma.
