Lechlade just Magic for Getaway
Lechlade Magician (4g Getaway-Run Supreme, by Supreme Leader) was yet another smart winner for red-hot Getaway when scoring on his debut at Wincanton on Tuesday.
The Anthony Honeyball-trained four-year-old was well-supported for this first run and did not disappoint, taking the lead after turning from home and going on to win by 12 lengths from favourite Begbie, who brought decent previous form into the race.
The Racing Post noted: “The winner looks above average. LECHLADE MAGICIAN won in the manner of a horse with a bright future, drawing clear of a horse who looked a certain future winner when third on debut.
“Always front rank, he was asked to go about his business early in the straight and galloped on relentlessly to win this with real authority. He is related to plenty of jumps winners, so clearly has a future over obstacles but before then he might be turning up in some of the big bumpers in the spring.”
