Maiden Hurdle Double For Getaway
Getaway’s fine run of form continued on Friday as his progeny completed a maiden hurdle double.
Arthur Mac (5g Getaway - Orchardstown Moss, by Lord Of Appeal) began proceedings with a successful return to two and a half miles at Catterick for Henry Oliver. A bumper winner for Philip Hobbs, the chesnut finished fourth on his first start for his new stable at the beginning of December.
Ridden to track the leaders by Liam Heard, he was pushed along from two out and led from the last, staying on well to score by four and a half lengths. Arthur Mac was bred by James Purcell and is owned by the Vacuum Pouch Company Limited.
Shortly after at Limerick, the Jessica Harrington-trained Press Conference (5g Getaway - Beautiful Tune, by Green Tune) gained his first win over hurdles at the second time of asking.
Ridden to chase the pace in a field of 15, the Robcour-owned bay was travelling well behind the leader after three out and led after the final flight, going on to score by two and three parts of a length, ahead of the favourite, Annamix.
Bred by John Joseph Murphy’s Highfort Stud, Press Conference (pictured) won a four-year-old maiden at Boulta for the Cork trainer, before being sold to Harrington for £160,000.
