Maxios Colt Stays On Best For Group 3 Success

German raider Walderbe (4c Maxios - Waldfee, by Dai Jin) ensured his trip to Capanelle was worthwhile when landing the Group 3 Premio Carlo d’Alessio.

Ralf Rohne’s charge previously finished second in the Group 3 Premio Ambrosiano over ten furlongs at San Siro and stepped up to a mile and a half on Sunday. Ridden prominently by Mickaelle Michel, the colt quickened from two furlongs out and stayed on well to win by two and a quarter lengths.

Sunday marked a first Group success for the young French jockey, who said after the race, “I am over the moon. This is my first Group win and I won against Dettori at a wonderful racecourse in a fantastic city. Walderbe is a real fighter, he never gave up and has plenty of stamina.”

Walderbe is owned by Stall Dusseldorf Fighters and was bred by Niels Ohlig. The son of Castle Hyde Stud sire Maxios is the first foal out of Waldfee and provides an important update for her filly by Maxios.
