Yaxeni (Maxios) Wins The Oyster Stakes At Galway

Maxios Mare Draws Clear To Second Stakes Success

Yaxeni (5m Maxios - Kithonia, by Sadler’s Wells) gained her second black-type success when running out an impressive winner of the Listed Oyster Stakes at Galway.

The Ger Lyons-trained filly was sent off favourite for the mile and a half contest and was ridden to make all by regular rider Colin Keane. Shaken up on the turn for home, she was ridden clear approaching the final furlong and kept on well to score by four lengths.

Tuesday’s win came on Yaxeni’s preferred softened ground, which connections hope recur for a Group 1 tilt at Ascot next month. Owned by SBA Racing Ltd, the daughter of Maxios is the best performer bred by the Niarchos family out of their homebred Sadler’s Wells mare Kithonia.
