Mo Town Bringing Hot Streak Into OBS Spring
Less than a week after Mo Town sired his first winner, buyers have a chance to buy 11 juveniles from his first crop at the OBS Spring Sale of Two-Year-Olds In Training this week.
The son of Uncle Mo has already shown buyers his first runners have talent with those three finishing first, second, and third in races at Keeneland.
Mo Town’s first representative is Hip 24, the first foal out of eight-time winner Vendita.
Bred by DP Racing and sold for $105,000 at the Fasig-Tipton October Sale, the colt has a strong family behind him. His stakes winning second dam Cure For Sale is a full sister to Group II winner Blues for Sale. That mare’s eight winner includes four-time Grade I winner Blue Prize and Group I winner Blue Stripe. In all, there are six stakes winners named on the Britton Peak-consigned colt’s page.
Breezing in :10.0, Hip 516 comes from the Eisaman Equine consignment after selling for $110,000 as a yearling. The Laura McKinney-bred filly is a half-sister to five winners from seven to race and out of a half-sister to the multiple stakes winner Smoke It Right. This is also the family of Grade II winner Bachelor Blues, Grade III winner Road Rash, and stakes winner and Grade I-placed Falkenburg.
The same day Mo Town was recording his first winner, his Top Line Sales-consigned Hip 687 was registering a bullet breeze during the Under Tack show. A half-sister to three winners from three to race, the March-born filly is also a granddaughter of multiple stakes winner Clever Idea.
Moreau Bloodstock International bred the filly, who also comes from the family of multiple graded stakes winner and successful sire Kantharos and Grade III winners Ikigai and Bonifacio among others.
The final offering set to go through the ring for Mo Town is a filly out of Scripted consigned by CM Thoroughbreds as Hip 1018. Scripted is a winning half-sister to Uncle Mo’s stakes winner and Grade I-placed Conquest Mo Money and a granddaughter of stakes winner and successful broodmare Daijin.
Daijin is the dam of Canadian champion Serenading and stakes winner Handpainting with her daughter Speed Succeeds producing Grade I winner Brilliant Speed. Daijin is also a full sister to Grade I winner Touch Gold and half-sister to Canadian Horse of the Year With Approval. This filly is the first foal out of Scripted and was bred by Pete Gonzales and Lenny Kohn.
This week’s sale kicks off at 10:30a.m. ET on Tuesday with sessions every day through Friday. Mo Town’s final offering of the sale goes through the ring early on Friday.
