Mo Town Filly Kicks Career Off On Winning Note at Colonial
Mo Fox Given (2f Mo Town x Givine, by Blackdoun) got her career off to a perfect start on Saturday when the Kelsey Danner trainee won on debut by 3 ¾ lengths in a Colonial Downs Maiden Special Weight.
Sent out to tackle 1 1/16 miles on the grass for her first start, Mo Fox Given broke out of a wide gate and took up a spot a few paths off the rail just behind the two leaders. Racing keenly down the backstretch, she was held to that spot by Colby Hernandez before he let her move closer going into the far turn.
Mo Fox Given quickly took advantage and confronted the leader in mid-turn before rolling away from that one into the stretch. Mo Fox Given showed a little greenness but when the whip was put away, focused on her job to extend her lead to 3 ¾ lengths at the line.
The juvenile races for Woo Pig Stables and was bred by Liberty Road Stables in Kentucky out of the stakes winner and multiple graded stakes placed Givine.
This is the fourth juvenile winner of the year for Mo Town and his 50th Northern Hemisphere-foaled winner overall from his first two crops.
