Mo Town’s Mo Stash Returns a Winner

Mo Town’s Grade III winner Mo Stash (4c Mo Town x Making Mark Money, by Smart Strike) kicked his season off on a high note Friday at Keeneland in an Allowance race.

The BBN Racing runner was entered to race 5 ½ furlongs on the turf and was quick at the break. Vying for the lead in second a few paths wide, he took control as the field turned for home and inched away to a short advantage as they entered the stretch.

By midstretch, the race favorite had pulled away to a comfortable lead with a 1 ½ length advantage at the line.

The Victoria Oliver trainee has placed in the top two in six of 11 starts for $543,198 in earnings. Included in those placings are four at the stakes levels.

He was also fourth behind Saxon Warrior son Victoria Road in the Grade I Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf, less than a length behind the third-place finisher.

Mo Stash is one of two stakes performers out of Making Mark Money alongside Grade II-placed Hidden Stash with five winners from five named foals. Making Mark Money is a granddaughter of La Affirmed, whose descendants include Grade I winners Sky Mesa, Matareya, and Maxfield.

This is the 25th winner of the year for Mo Town, the sixth best of all third crop seasons in 2024.
