More To Come From Sioux Nation Filly After Maiden Win
Sakakawea (3f Sioux Nation – Tomorrow Morning, by Lawman) took a step forward on her third start to win the fillies’ maiden at Sligo on Sunday afternoon.
Trained by Ted Walsh for wife and owner/breeder Helen Walsh, the Sioux Nation filly was settled behind the leaders by Billy Lee and began to make headway from two furlongs out. Ridden to challenge a furlong later, she ran on well to lead by half a length on the line.
“She travelled well and I got a good split off the bend,” the winning rider commented. “She's always worked well and her runs probably hadn't shown that, but that was more like it so hopefully she'll go forward.”
