Mo’s Treasure Another Winner for Mo Town
D. Wayne Lukas-trained Mo’s Treasure (2c Mo Town x Beautiful Treasure, by Unbridled) became his Grade I-winning sire’s newest winner on Thursday night with a Maiden Special Weight victory at Churchill Downs.
Racing over seven furlongs under the twin spires, Mo’s Treasure raced just a few lengths off the pacesetter early on before moving to within a length of him close to the turn. He made his bid for the lead soon after and dueled for the first half of the stretch before the pacesetter started to give in as they reached the furlong pole.
Inside the final sixteenth, Mo’s Treasure started pulling away to win by 1 ¾ lengths in the end.
Bred by Mulholland Springs, Mo’s Treasure races for BC Stables. He is a half-brother to Fusaichi Pegasus’s Grade II-placed and Grade I Preakness fourth Flying Private and six other winners from seven to race. Their stakes-placed dam Beautiful Treasure is a half-sister to Grade III winner Henny Hound and stakes-placed Saturday Hero.
Mo Town is the sire of nine winners, eighth best on the first crop sire list and ahead of horses such as City of Light, Oscar Performance, and West Coast.
