Mullins mare smart one for Soldier Of Fortune

Soldier Of Fortune sired another promising hurdle winner on Thursday when Pietralunga (5m Soldier Of Fortune-Ascot One, by Septieme Ciel) won her first start for Willie Mullins at Clonmel.

A Flat winner in France, she posted a cosy success in the 16-runner maiden hurdle at Clonmel under the trainer’s nephew David Mullins.

“It turned into a sprint but she showed good guts to stay finding coming up the hill,” said the winning rider. “Her jumping was very good and she was safe and clever.”
