Munnings’ Never Enough Time Secures Alma North Victory
It was a quick double for Munnings on Saturday when the stallion’s Never Enough Time (4f Munnings x What Time Is It, by Partner’s Hero) followed up her sire's Churchill Downs winner with a victory in the Alma North Stakes at Laurel.
A homebred for Larry Johnson, the filly was first to show speed when racing to the lead in the six furlong dirt stakes. Dueling throughout the early stages of the race, Never Enough Time started pulling away from her rival at the top of the stretch while opening up on the field.
A late run from Chalon saw Never Enough Time’s margin closed to a length but it was more than enough to secure Never Enough Time her fourth win in eight career stakes.
The Michael Trombetta trainee is the first stakes winner and one of five winners out of multiple stakes placed What Time Is It.
That mare is a half-sister to multiple stakes winner and Grade II-placed Strike The Moon and two other stakes placed runners. What Time Is It is the fourth generation of her dam line to produce at least one stakes winner with Never Enough Time’s victory.
It’s been another excellent year for Munnings with the stallion siring 10 stakes winners and 16 stakes horses in 2020, led by three Grade II winners.
