My Beautiful Belle Easy 2-Year-Old Winner For Munnings

My Beautiful Belle (2f Munnings x Winiliscious, by Lawyer Ron) won in impressive style on debut at Monmouth Park Saturday to become Munnings’ first 2-year-old winner of the year.

Racing over 4½ furlongs, the Chuck Spina-trained and co-owned filly broke on top and went straight to the front to open up about a length on the field when setting a fast pace. Always ridden confidently by Jomar Torres, the filly was given only a few reminders in the stretch to keep focused as she pulled away to win by an easy two lengths at the wire.

Bred by Joseph Ioia, who owns the filly with Gayle Ioia and Chuck Spina, My Beautiful Belle is the third foal for Winiliscious, who is Listed-placed and was fourth in the Grade II Molly Pitcher. A half-sister to the dam of Grade III winner Gentle Ruler, Winiliscious was also a 10-time winner in her career and now has two winners from three to race, including Lookin At Lucky’s winning Assault Weapon.

Among the leading sires of 2-year-old winners the last two years, Munnings has sired 15 2-year-old stakes winners in his career led by Grade II winner and Kentucky Oaks contender Finite, Grade III winner No Problem, and Group II Queen Mary runner-up Kimari.
