Out On Bail (Tiz The Law) Wins The Skidmore

Out On Bail First Stakes Winner For Tiz The Law

It was a first stakes winner for Tiz The Law on Friday when Out On Bail (2c Tiz The Law x Judge Lee, by Street Cry) won the Skidmore Stakes.

Coming back three weeks after breaking his maiden, the colt broke well in the 5 ½ furlong race to race head and head with another runner before settling at that one’s hip. Jockey Jose Ortiz looked confident around the turn and didn’t ask for his mount to really get into the race until the stretch.

He immediately engaged in a duel with Jet Sweep Joe with neither horse willing to give in. Nose-and-nose to the line, Out On Bail had a full head in front at the line with the rest of the field 9 ½ lengths behind them.

The Matthew Nestor-bred colt is trained by Mike Maker for Case Chambers, Paradise Farms, and David Staudacher and has hit the board in all four starts. Maker noted that the Grade III Futurity would likely be next as a step to the Grade I Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint.

Out On Bail’s two-time winning Street Cry dam Judge Lee is a half-sister to the multiple stakes winner Euro Platinum. There are stakes performers under each of Judge Lee’s first four dams, including Grade III winner Pacific Fleet.

Judge Lee had a full brother to Out On Bail in 2023.

Tiz The Law is the sire of six winners this year, good enough for fifth in his crop, and one of only six freshmen to sire a stakes winner this year.
