Play The Music Newest Mo Town Stakes Winner
Only hours after registering an impressive maiden winner, Mo Town saw daughter Play The Music (4f Mo Town x Hey Little Sister, by Jump Start) become a stakes winner with a victory in the Leinster Lightning City Stakes.
The Mark Casse trainee was happy to race in midpack just over three lengths behind the leader early on in the five-furlong race as she took up a spot on the rail. She didn’t make a true move toward the front until the quarter pole and by the time they reached the stretch, it was clear she was gunning for the lead.
Play The Music took over and then started pulling away in the stretch to win by 2 ½ lengths with only the runner-up within seven lengths of her at the line.
Owned by Glassman Racing, the $300,000 2-year-old purchase has won four of 10 starts with four other top three finishes and is now on a two-race win streak.
The 4-year-old was bred by Laura McKinney and is one of seven winners out of Hey Little Sister. That Jump Start daughter is a half-sister to multiple stakes winner Smoke It Right and out of a half-sister to Grade III winner Road Rush and stakes winner Falkenburg.
This is the second stakes winner of the year for Mo Town, tying him for first among all fourth crop sires with his seven stakes winners overall putting him sixth in his crop.
