Practical Joke’s Klugman in Charge at Gulfstream
Klugman (3c Practical Joke x Polyester, by Tiz Wonderful) registered his second victory in four career starts on Thursday with a win in a Gulfstream Park Allowance against his elders.
Trained by Eddie Plesa Jr., Klugman took pace making duties in the seven-furlong dirt race and never stopped. Keeping over a length on the field throughout the early running, in the stretch he got down to business and pulled away from the field.
In the end, he was four lengths in front with the third placed horse 5 ¼ lengths behind him.
Plesa trains the 3-year-old for Karl and Cathi Glassman, who purchased him at the OBS October Yearling Sale for $140,000. The Florida-bred colt bred by France and Irwin Weiner and Valery and Tristan deMeric is out of Polyester, who has also produced Grade III winner and 12-time winner overall Harper’s First Ride from her five winners from five to race.
Unraced herself, Polyester is a half-sister to multiple stakes winner Sneaky Quiet and Grade III-placed Hidden Truth.
Practical Joke’s 19 2021 winners have visited the winner’s circle 21 times with four stakes performers and two graded stakes winners this year.
