Progressive Australia Colt Wins Maiden In Smart Fashion
A step up in trip saw King Carney (2c Australia - Petit Trianon, by Dansili) get off the mark in Wednesday’s Future Stayers Maiden Stakes at Nottingham.
The Charlie Fellowes-trained colt was stepping up to an extended mile following a promising second over seven furlongs last time out. Richard Kingscote rode the chesnut to lead, pushing him along from three furlongs out and drove him out to win by two lengths, as Damage Control (Zoffany) stayed on to claim runners-up honours.
King Carney was a 145,000gns purchase at the Tattersalls Craven Breeze-Up Sale by Charlie Gordon-Watson on behalf of owner Mrs Susan Roy. He is the first foal bred by Select Bloodstock out of Petit Trianon, a full-sister to Listed winner Preferential.
