Progressive Son Of Walk In The Park Takes Grade 2 Chase
Blow Your Wad (6g Walk In The Park – Molly’s Mate, by Goldmark) gained a first black-type success when justifying favouritism in the Grade 2 Pendil Novices’ Chase at Kempton.
Tom Lacey’s talented hurdler got off the mark over fences at the track’s Boxing Day fixture and was sent off favourite to record his second course and distance on Saturday. Racing prominently under Stan Sheppard, the bay was travelling best of the field when leading at the third last and was ridden when challenged before the final fence. After a fine leap at the last, he kept on well to win by three parts of a length, with the leading pair finishing 18 lengths clear of the remainder.
Jerry Hinds, who owns Blow Your Wad with Ashley Head, later stated that the winner would sidetrack Cheltenham and be aimed at Aintree. Bred by Minch Bloodstock, the progressive chaser is a full-brother to exciting bumper mare Maughreen (Walk In The Park). The pair have a four-year-old sister by Getaway and a two-year-old brother by Soldier Of Fortune.
