Promising Camelot Colt Wins On Return

The well-related Sir Lamorak (3c Camelot - Simply A Star, by Giant’s Causeway) followed up on some promising juvenile performances to justify favouritism at Dundalk on Friday evening.

Eye-catching on debut last October, the Aidan O’Brien-trained colt was beaten just a length and a quarter next time out at the Curragh and stepped up to ten and a half furlongs on his three-year-old return. He chased the leaders under Seamie Heffernan and was pushed long from over two furlongs out, improving to lead approaching the final furlong. Ridden out, he kept on well to win by half a length and reversed the form with runner-up Moktaffy, as Zaynudin (Fastnet Rock) ran on for third.

A Coolmore homebred, Sir Lamorak holds entries in the Irish 2,000 Guineas, Epsom Derby and Irish Derby. The son of Camelot is out of a half-sister to Group 1 winner Athena (Camelot).
