Promising Prospect Leads Home 1-2 For Getaway
Get A Superstar (5g Getaway - Glenariff, by Kayf Tara) built on his promising stable debut to lead home a 1-2 for Getaway in Thursday’s bumper at Newcastle.
Runner-up on his first start for Dr Richard Newland and Jamie Insole in October, he was sent off favourite to go one better in the two mile and one furlong contest. Charlie Hammond settled the bay at the back of the field and began to make headway from six furlongs out, improving to press the leaders two furlongs later. Pushed along approaching the two furlong marker, he was ridden to lead inside the final furlong and kept on well to deny the rallying Helsgetaway (Getaway) by half a length.
Get A Superstar is owned by JH Graham, having been purchased following a fine fourth on rules debut for Irish trainer John O’Neill. The improving five-year-old was bred by Luke O’Reilly.
