Sir Lucan (Camelot) Wins At Cork

Promising Son Of Camelot Delivers With Maiden Victory

Sir Lucan (2c Camelot - Sparrow, by Oasis Dream) followed up on a fine run at Group level when getting off the mark at Cork on Tuesday afternoon.

Fourth to stablemate High Definition (Galileo) in the Group 2 Beresford Stakes last month, the Aidan O’Brien-trained bay was sent off favourite for Tuesday’s mile contest. Colin Keane positioned him in midfield, improving from over two furlongs out and asked him to challenge soon after. Running on well, he beat the longtime leader Flying Visit (Pride Of Dubai) by a neck on the line, as Kailash stayed on for third.

Speaking after the race, Keane commented, “He got to the line very well and you'd imagine he'd be a mile and two, or mile and a half horse next year. He is a good type and is well-related, and you'd imagine he'd be a nice horse to look forward to.”

A Coolmore homebred, Sir Lucan is a full-brother to Group 3 winner and Tattersalls Gold Cup runner-up Sir Dragonet (Camelot).
