Richi Gives Practical Joke Third Stakes Winner of Weekend
It was a third stakes winner of the weekend for Practical Joke on Saturday with Richi’s (2f Practical Joke x Rich Baby, by Scat Daddy) victory in the Group III Clasico Jose Saavedra Baeza.
Gunning for her second stakes victory in the 7 ½ furlong dirt race, Richi bumped another horse coming out of the gate before taking over the lead. The filly took the lead right away and opened up a few lengths on the field, never giving another chance to take command.
Once Richi was asked for more effort, the race was over with Richi winning by a deceivingly small three lengths and another Practical Joke filly in third.
Trained by Juan Silva for Vendaval, with the duo also combining to win the Group III Clasico Julio Subercaseaux Brown with Practical Joke’s Guairaba on Friday, Richi was scoring her third win in four starts with a runner up finish in the other start rounding out her resume.
Bred by Haras Pasa Nevado, Richi is out of Scat Daddy’s Rich Baby, who has produced three winners from three to race. Rich Baby is one of four stakes performers out of Richwood Royal with that mare’s lead runner being the multiple graded stakes winner and Group I placed Rich Court. She also produced Lookin At Lucky’s Grade I placed Rich Lady and stakes placed Richman.
Practical Joke’s three stakes winners started with Guairaba on Friday before Skelly won at Oaklawn Park and was rounded out by Richi’s victory.
