Scaramouche Seventh Blacktype Winner of Year for Munnings

It was a second stakes winner from his 3-year-old crop in less than 48 hours on Tuesday for Munnings when Scaramouche (3g Munnings x Haunting, by Bernardini) won the Rittenhouse Square Stakes at Parx for his second straight victory.

Trained by Guadalupe Preciado for Nicholas Cammarano Jr, Scaramouche stumbled out of the gate but quickly recovered to race to the lead in the six-furlong dirt race. Once he was in full stride, the gelding started to pull away from the field to have a sizable lead entering the final furlong.

That final eighth saw Scaramouche continue to run away from the field and win by 5 ½ lengths in the end in his third career start.

The 59th worldwide stakes winner for Munnings, Scaramouche was bred by Stoneway Farm in Kentucky out of the winning Bernardini mare Haunting. That mare is out of the Grade III-placed Chagall.

Scaramouche maiden stakes victory follow Eda’s victory in the Grade III Santa Ysabel on Sunday evening. Munnings now sits at seven 2022 stakes winners, tied with Into Mischief at the top of the General Sire list.
