Smart Son Of Walk In The Park Gains Second Hurdle Win

The promising Park This One (6g Walk In The Park - Soraya Pearl, by Shirocco) gained his second win over hurdles when justifying favouritism at Catterick on New Years Day.

Successful in a bumper last season, Jamie Snowden’s charge made a winning hurdle debut before finishing fourth in a Grade 2 at Sandown. Reunited with Gavin Sheehan on Sunday, he raced prominently throughout and was pushed along from three out. Ridden when challenged at the second last, he produced a fine jump at the final flight and was pushed out on the run-in to win by five lengths.

Speaking after the race, Snowden said, “Park This On is just an honest, galloping, staying future chaser. He won very nicely at Uttoxeter at the start of the season, then ran very well in a Grade 2 and it's nice to get another one in the bag.”

Bred by L&R Bloodstock, the son of Walk In The Park previously won a point-to-point for Neil McLean.

At Warwick the previous day, the Henry Daly-trained Bowenspark (5g Walk In The Park - Bowenscourt, by Westerner) remained unbeaten when defying a penalty in the bumper.

Remaining over the two mile trip, he was ridden in touch with the leaders by Richard Patrick and made headway as they turned for home. Ridden from two furlongs out, he kept on well inside the final furlong and led close home to win by a neck.

Bowenspark carries the colours of the late Trevor Hemmings and is the first foal bred by Brittas House Stud and Grenane House Stud out of Bowenscourt (Westerner). A full-brother to Bowenspark sold to Mags O’Toole for €75,000 at the Land Rover Sale in June.
