Smart Son Of Walk In The Park Makes Promising Chase Debut
Talented hurdler Life In The Park (5g Walk In The Park - Jeanquiri, by Mansonnien) made a bright start to his chasing career at the Listowel Festival on Wednesday.
The Henry de Bromhead-trained gelding ran out an impressive winner of his maiden hurdle in April and followed up at the Punchestown Festival on his final start of the season. The bay was sent off favourite on return in the Beginners Chase over two miles and six furlongs and was ridden prominently throughout by Rachael Blackmore. Asserting three from home, he boasted a clear advantage at the second last and was pushed out on the run-in to score by four and a half lengths.
“It was a great performance,” Blackmore commented after the race. “These colours have seen plenty of success and hopefully this lad will get into the winner's enclosure plenty. He was bought with a chasing career in mind and it's great for him to do that today.”
The colours in question are those of Barry Moloney, who purchased Life In The Park privately following his sole start for Donnchadh Doyle. Bred by Minch and AV Bloodstock, the son of Walk In The Park has a three-year-old brother by Milan to race, as well as a two-year-old brother by Flemensfirth.
