So United Wins $1million MM Subzero
A thrilling finish to the $1million Magic Millions Subzero (2200m) at the Gold Coast on Saturday delivered another victory for Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott with tough stayer So United (6g So You Think x Maglissa, by Magnus).
Ridden by Tim Clark, So United edged out veteran gelding Parry Sound (8g Pierro x Aqua D'Amore, by Danehill) to claim a head win taking his overall record to six wins and eight placings from 32 starts with prizemoney just shy of $1million.
"That was fantastic. I was relieved there because the runs were coming strong there down out wide. He deserved it. He made all of the running and kicked well. The horse has come back so well this preparation and keeps improving. I am delighted for everyone involved,” said Adrian Bott.
"He’s a So You Think and they are later maturing, they excel once they get over a bit of a trip. His half-brother (Unite and Conquer) we had here favourite for the Magic Millions 2YO race. I think that year Bluebloods came back and bought his half-brother and here we are in the staying race."
A $190,000 Magic Millions purchase for Blueblood Thoroughbreds from the Valiant Stud draft, So United is a half-brother to juvenile stakes-winner Unite and Conquer and stakes-placed Mission Value from Maglissa, who has had four foals to race and all are winners.
A metropolitan winner by Magnus from Group I winner Danglissa, Maglissa is a half-sister to the dams of Group III winner Sweet Redemption and stakes-winner Euryale.
So You Think has had yearlings sell for up to $375,000 at Magic Millions this week and has nine more to be offered in Books 1 and 2.
