Son Of Australia Impresses At Leopardstown
Fernando Vichi (2c Australia - Pernica, by Sir Percy) completed a quickfire double for Gavin Ryan and Donnacha O’Brien when running out an impressive winner of the mile maiden at Leopardstown.
Beaten just a nose on debut earlier in the month, the Mrs Rgalado-Gonzalez owned colt was sent off favourite on Thursday. Ryan rode him to track the leader and was ridden to lead inside the final furlong. Racing clear, he won by three and a quarter lengths from Sword Zorro (Zoffany).
Speaking after the race, the winning jockey said, “He's a smart horse and has a lovely turn of foot.”
Fernando Vichi was bred by Epona Bloodstock out of a winning half-sister to Group 1 winner Neatico and Grade 2 winner Beautyandthebeast.
