Son Of Australia Strides Clear To Maiden Victory

The improving Platform Nineteen (3g Australia - Susan Stroman, by Monsun) broke his maiden by an impressive eight lengths at Beverley on Monday.

The Michael Bell-trained three-year-old was sent off favourite, held up at the back of the field by Clifford Lee and was asked to challenge from the three furlong marker. Leading over a furlong from home, he soon went clear and extended his advantage with ease.

Owned by the Royal Ascot Racing Club, Platform Nineteen was bought as a yearling by John and Jake Warren for 68,000gns from breeders Watership Down Stud. His dam, a winner herself, is a half-sister to the top-class racemare The Fugue, while his second dam finished second in the Group 2 Ribblesdale Stakes.
