Hector De Maris (Camelot) Wins At Naas

Son Of Camelot Battles Back For Deserved Success

A drop down in trip proved just the trick for the consistent Hector De Maris (2c Camelot - Frequential, by Dansili), who gained a deserved maiden success at Naas on Sunday.

Placed on three of his four previous starts, all of them coming over a mile, the Aidan O’Brien-trained colt was sent off favourite for the seven furlong contest. Soon in front under Seamie Heffernan, the bay was headed two furlongs from home, but kept on well to regain the advantage 110 yards out. Running on well, he scored by two and a half lengths, going away.

The winning rider was very encouraging after the race, saying, “He is a gorgeous big horse to sit on and he could have a future. There is plenty to like about him.”

Bred by Lynch Bages and Longfield Stud, Hector De Maris is the first foal out of Frequential, herself a half-sister to Group 3 scorer Impulsif.
