Son Of Camelot Delivers On Promise

Arthur’s Realm (3g Camelot - Morning Line, by Anabaa) built on some promising performances to get off the mark in Thursday’s Novice Stakes at Ripon.

Placed three times previously, the Ed Dunlop-trained bay was sent off second favourite under Mark Crehan as he dropped back to a mile. Asked to challenge passing the three furlong marker, he ran on well to lead inside the final furlong and kept on to deny Broomy Law (Gleneagles) by a neck. The pair finished seven lengths clear of the field.

Speaking after the race, assistant trainer Robin Trevor-Jones said, “He's quite talented. We ran him over a mile and a quarter and he probably didn't quite stay: we dropped him to a mile and he's gone and won for us.”

Owned by Paul Turner, the 68,000gns foal purchase was bred by Newstead Breeding and has a two-year-old half-brother by The Gurkha.
