Son Of Camelot Stays On Strongly At Longchamp
Shaiyhar (3g Camelot -Sharliyna, by Pivotal) took a step forward to win his second start in Thursday’s three-year-old maiden at Longchamp.
A promising fourth on debut in July, the Francis-Henri Graffard-trained bay was ridden by Mickael Barzalona as he dropped down to a mile and six furlongs. Soon settled behind the leaders, the Aga Khan homebred was pushed along turning for home and switched wide to challenge at the two furlong pole. Driven to dispute a furlong later, he was ridden out to lead by a neck on the line.
Shaiyhar continues a fantastic run for his sire Camelot, with Luxembourg gaining further Group 1 glory in Saturday’s Irish Champion Stakes. Earlier that week, Be Happy and Alexandroupolis both impressed on debut for Aidan O’Brien.
