Charlie Siringo (Getaway) Wins The Maiden Hurdle At Downpatrick

Son Of Getaway Delivers At Downpatrick

Charlie Siringo (6g Getaway - Drumderry, by Shernazar) built on some promising performances to run out a comfortable winner of Sunday’s maiden hurdle at Downpatrick.

Racing over two miles and three furlongs, Noel Meade’s charge tracked the leader under Eoin Walsh and made smooth headway to lead approaching the second last. Pushed along to extend his advantage before the final flight, he kept on well on the run-in to win by five lengths.

Speaking after the race, the winning rider said, “He always hinted at promise and I think the bit of nicer ground today brought out that bit of improvement. I got a dream run around and he galloped all the way to the line.”

Owned by Ms JA Wakefield and bred by Paddy Kinsella, the son of Grange Stud sire Getaway was previously placed on three occasions.
