Son Of Getaway Wins Listed Chase On Return
The Fergal O’Brien-trained Jarveys Plate (6g Getaway - She’s Got to Go, by Glacial Storm) made a winning start to his chase career when taking the Listed Novices’ Chase at Chepstow on Saturday.
A Listed winner and Grade 2 placed over hurdles, the chestnut was returning from a 213 day break and was dropping back in trip slightly to just under two and a half miles. Paddy Brenan rode him at the back of the field, waiting until the second last to leap into second and was driven to lead from the last. Pushed clear, he beat the favourite Reserve Tank by four and a half lengths.
The race has previously been won by the likes of Fingal Bay, Cue Card and Southfield Theatre. Jarveys Plate remains lightly-raced, although consistent, having previously won his sole bumper start and placing on both point-to-point starts.
The son of Getaway was bred by Philip Brolan, whose five-year-old full-sister to Jarveys Plate sold for €155,000 after winning her point-to-point impressively in April.
