Son Of Holy Roman Emperor Makes All In Grade 2 Stakes

L’Imperator (5g Holy Roman Emperor - La Joie, by Montjeu) continued the fantastic form of the Chad Brown stable with an all-the-way win in Saturday’s Grade 2 Fort Marcy Stakes at Belmont Park.

Breaking well under Eric Cancel, the bay proved not for catching and kept on well to score by three and a quarter lengths. “He broke pretty sharp,” Cancel confirmed. “He put me on the lead and I just went with it. I didn't want to take away what he gave me so easily. It worked out well.”

Dan Stupp, Brown’s New York-based assistant, added, “This horse has hinted at ability, and he showed up today with a great effort.”

L’Imperator was bought by connections after an impressive win in his native France and now races for Madaket Stables, Wonder Stables and Robert LaPenta. The son of Holy Roman Emperor was bred by Jean-Pierre Dubois out of his homebred Montjeu mare La Joie.
