Son Of Mahler Draws Clear To Second Hurdle Win

Nowmelad (5g Mahler – Mighty Oake, by King’s Theatre) drew clear to his second success over hurdles at Hereford on Tuesday afternoon.

Trained by Dr Richard Newland and Jamie Insole for Peter Green, the Mahler gelding finished second on his first two starts over hurdles and returned last month to win a maiden hurdle by nine lengths. Third next time out, the consistent bay was sent off the short-priced favourite for Tuesday’s novice hurdle over two miles. Making all under Lee Edwards, he was shaken up after the second last and quickened clear to score by 12 lengths.

It marks a third career win overall for the Declan Daly-bred five-year-old, who previously won a point-to-point for Jack Teal.
