Chasing Fire (Maxios) winning a Novice Hurdle at Market Rasen

Son Of Maxios Adds Impressive Win To Unbeaten Record

Chasing Fire (5g Maxios - Kahara, by Sadler’s Wells) extended his unbeaten record with another impressive performance at Market Rasen on Boxing Day.

The son of Maxios was bought by Aiden and Olly Murphy for £170,000 after making a winning debut for Denis Murphy and made a successful start for new connections in a bumper last season. The bay could hardly have been more impressive on hurdle debut last month and was sent off favourite to follow up in the Novices Hurdle over course and distance.

Racing prominently under Sean Bowen, he was shaken up to lead before two out and eased clear soon after. After producing a fine leap at the last, he was pushed out on the run-in to score by an easy 16 lengths.

Owned by Mrs Diana Whateley, the son of Maxios was bred by Gestut Fahrhof out of a black-type full-sister to Milan.
