Son Of Maxios Gains Third Wide Margin Victory

The Paul Nicholls-trained Wild Max (7g Maxios - Wildfahrte, by Mark Of Esteem) recorded his third impressive chase victory at Newton Abbot on Friday.

A stylish course and distance winner in May, the son of Maxios was sent off favourite for the two mile Novices’ Chase under a double penalty. Regular rider Harry Cobden positioned the bay behind the leader, improving to lead after the third last and drew clear from the penultimate fence. He needed little encouragement to score by 15 lengths.

Wild Max’s three chase wins have come by a combined 68 lengths. Bred by Gestut Brummerhof, his first two career victories came on the flat in his native Germany, before recording four hurdle wins for new connections.
