Gaelic Warrior (Maxios) Wins At Clonmel

Son Of Maxios Records Another Impressive Victory

Gaelic Warrior (5g Maxios - Game Of Legs, by Hernando) made it two from two this season when producing another impressive performance in Tuesday’s Munster Hurdle at Clonmel.

Having begun his career with Hugo de Lageneste and Guillaume Macaire, Willie Mullins’ French recruit made a fine start for new connections last season when narrowly denied in the Grade 3 Fred Winter Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival. The Mrs Ricci-owned bay returned last month to win by all of 86 lengths and was sent off favourite to follow up at Clonmel under Paul Townend.

Gaelic Warrior made all of the running and was travelling with ease at the second last, from which he began to extend his advantage. He remained unchallenged throughout and led by 15 lengths on the line.

Gaelic Warrior was bred by the Niarchos Family, who also bred and raced his sire Maxios to win twice at Group 1 level.
