Son Of Vadamos Much The Best In Group 3 Contest
Sunday saw Spycatcher (5g Vadamos - Damask, by Red Clubs) gain his second Stakes success when running out an impressive winner of the Group 3 Prix de Ris-Orangis at Deauville.
Karl Burke’s charge won at Listed level and finished second in a Group 2 last year, and proved as good as ever when narrowly denied in the Group 3 Chipchase Stakes just eight days ago. Sent off joint-favourite at Deauville, the bay chased the pace under Clifford Lee and was shaken up approaching the final furlong. Soon in front, he drew clear in the final 100 yards and went on to score by a comfortable three lengths.
Spycatcher was recording his fifth career success for Highclere Thoroughbred Racing-Adriana Zaefferer, for whom he has also placed in five Stakes races. The son of Vadamos was bred by Tally-Ho Stud, who sold him at the Tattersalls Craven Breeze-Up Sale for 90,000gns.
