Gidleigh Park Wins The Grade 2 Lightning Novices Chase

Son Of Walk In The Park Gains Second Grade 2

Gidleigh Park (7g Walk In The Park – Lindeman, by Presenting) was back to his best at Windsor on Friday, as Harry Fry’s talented charge took the Grade 2 Lightning Novices’ Chase under Bryan Carver.

The son of Walk In The Park made it four from four when landing a Grade 2 novice hurdle last season, but failed to fire on his chasing debut and seasonal return. He gave supporters confidence with a front-running display at Windsor, rallying well from the second last and kept on to beat the short-priced favourite Caldwell Potter by four lengths. The front pair finished 19 lengths clear of the third.

The winning rider later commented: “We went to Lambourn last week over a fence and he was absolutely brilliant, so we've come here today with plenty of confidence. He's done it really well, when we turned in he quickened up the whole way and hit the line strong. He's obviously got a massive engine, he's a pleasure to be involved with.”

Gidleigh Park is owned by the Eyre family and was bred by Mr and Mrs Kelvin-Hughes.
